Les Cassagnes de La Nerthe are from the Domaine de La Renjarde in Sérignan du Comtat. This is a property of the Richard family, as is the famous Chateau La Nerthe in Châteauneuf du Pape. It is farmed with the same demanding standards in the quest for quality. This wine is a blend of organic Grenache, Syrah and Mourvèdre grapes produced from sandy and limestone soils. It exhales ripe and fleshy fruit aromas with notes of red fruit and sweet spices. A wine to enjoy from its early years.

- Tasting note
- Deep purple color with violet hints. Very expressive on the nose: the attack is round, dominated by Syrah (Floral notes of violet and spices) but thanks to tannins of excellent maturity, Grenache shows a dense, robust but supple structure. Very good length on the palate, full ripeness and a fine tannic extraction gives this balanced wine a significant ageing potential, a sure bet for the coming years.

- Vinification
- Hand picked at perfect maturity, grapes are sorted when arriving in the cellar. Co-fermentation of the 3 varietals during a 3-week-maceration: extraction is done by soft methods to respect the brightness of the fruit and their tannic quality. Final blending will age in stainless steel tank on fine lees for 9 months before bottling.
- Soil
- The vineyards of Château La Nerthe are a mosaic of 57 plots in which all the 4 main soil types of Châteauneuf du Pape are represented. They grow 13 grape varieties on 92 hectares, most of them surrounded at the château. These vineyards enjoy an exceptional location, the comprises terraces and hillsides typical of local soils with clay-limestone pebbles. The other 32 hectares forming the area of La Crau lie on a clay rich soil, covered with worn flat pebbles and some sandstone.
