Graci

Italy Sicily

Graci is located on the northern slope of Mount Etna, in Passopisciaro. The area has an ancient wine tradition. The vineyards are located in the heart of the Alcantara valley at an altitude between 600 and 1,000 meters above sea level. Winemaker Alberto Graci only cultivates Etna vines here with the grape varieties Nerello Mascalese, Carricante and Cataratto, with as much respect as possible for the terroir and traditions.

The cultivation of the vineyards is fully organic certified and there is a lot of attention for sustainability. During the harvest there is a careful selection for full ripeness of grapes and yields in the vineyard are kept to a minimum. A strict approach is also used in the cellar, in search of precision and finesse. All work is aimed at supporting the personality of the vineyards while preserving the diversity and nuances between vintages. This with the full conviction that only by supporting and respecting the natural expression of the terroir, wines are made that are particularly complex.

Winemaker & owner

Graci

As a son from a Sicilian farmer’s family, Alberto studied at Rome and became a successful investment banker in Milan at a young age. The death of his grandfather, who also cultivated wine, changes his steep career. He returned to Sicily in 2004 and become a winegrower, at a time there was hardly any viticulture on the Etna, however Alberto was fascinated by the volcano wines. He was able to sell his grandfathers land and invested in vineyards on the northern slopes of the Etna. Nowadays he is called a wine artist by many. He owns about 25 hectares of vineyards, on different types of volcanic soils. Nerello mascalese is his top grape with more then 15 hectares, Etna’s top red wine grape. Followed by carricante and Catarratto. Etna is a special place, it has the sun of Sicily but also a climate moderated by altitude, together with the volcanic soils and the old ungrafted vineyards, Graci is capable of producing extraordinary wines.

“I only use indigenous grape varieties to express my terroirs.”

Collection

Our wines

The great diversity between one vintage and another and between one vineyard and another is the richness of the territories. We are proud to offer the complete portfolio of Alberto Graci, made from the 3 native grapes nerello mascalese, carricante and Catarratto.

Etna Bianco

70% Carricante & 30% Carratto grapes, Sicily, Italy.

Super wine delivered weekly to fresh fruit and flowers. On the palate it shows well-balanced flavours of apple, pear and peach. The fine note of mineral salt in the aftertaste is also delightful. Beautiful, rich glass of white wine.

Etna Rosato

100% Nerello Mascalese, Sicily, Italy

This rosato impresses with its vibrant bouquet of sweet melon lifted by minty herbs and white smoke. It’s silky in texture yet reverberating with zesty citrus and mouth watering acidity, as mineral-tinged green apple and spices cascade across the senses. The wine tapers off tense yet long, presenting a salty flourish under an air of crushed oyster shells.

Etna Rosso

100% Nerello Mascalese, Sicily, Italy

This is a juicy red wine with aromas of ripe fruit, notes of violet flowers and hints of volcanic stones. In the mouth it is fresh, soft and balanced. A wine with lively tannins, a pronounced acidity and an attractive juicy and persistent finish.
