About this wine
Description & facts
Maison de la Chapelle is inspired by wineries that preserve the prestige of Burgundy wines and is dedicated to Irancy and the Yonne terroirs, to this unique northern Burgundy. The wines come from the Irancy region. The appellation covers 300 hectares, of which about 180 are planted just a few kilometres from Chablis. Nestled in the hollow of a cirque and overlooking the Yonne Valley, the sloping Vineyards are quite remarkable. Being south facing , it has a mild and sunny micro-climate, sheltered from any cold north winds. Irancy’s picturesque position is enhanced by the inter-mingling of strips of vines and cherry orchards which also form part of the historical identity of this region. With this rich agricultural biodiversity, Irancy has always been a natural enclave for the maturity of pinot noir.

- The wine is open with juicy fruits from raspberry and some dried flowers. There is a nice balance between the acidity and some soft tannines. A very clear and refreshing pinot noir.

- The wine is a great combination with classic French dishes. Combine it with game meat such as quail or a partridge. Also a nice combination with a terrine or a Coq au Vin rouge.
- Vinification
- After manual harvest 50% of the grapes were destemmed and 50% of the grapes are fermented in whole bunches. The vinification took place in open tapered vats of 15 and 20hl for about 15 days. Followed by ageing in oak barrels for 12 months.

- Les Beaux Monts (50%), Les Bâtardes (25%), La Grande Côte (25%) from 30 to 35 year old vines at a north-east and south exposure.
